The 8th edition of the Professional Sommelier Course of the Canary Islands Wine Campus is now open!

With a clear professional vocation and a practical approach, this programme has become a reference for those who wish to deepen their knowledge of wine and other products linked to gastronomy and sensory culture.

Classroom and specialised training

The course has a total duration of 275 hours, distributed between the months of February, March, April, May, June and July, and will be given in the following timetable:

  • Monday: from 9:00 to 14:00 and from 15:00 to 18:00
  • Tuesday: 9:00 to 13:00

The training is 100% classroom-based, which allows direct and continuous experience with tasting, sensory analysis and practical work, essential elements in the training of a professional sommelier.

A comprehensive and cross-cutting programme

The syllabus comprehensively covers all the key areas of the profession, including:

  • Viticulture and oenology
  • National and international wine geography
  • Sensory analysis and tasting technique
  • Wine pairing and serving
  • Duties and competencies of the sommelier

In addition, the course extends its focus to the tasting and knowledge of other products such as oils, coffees, beers, waters, cheeses, honeys, vermouth, spirits and tobacco, offering comprehensive training adapted to the current demands of the hotel and catering and gastronomic sector.
