Two wines share the highest recognition in an edition marked by the quality, diversity and excellence of the Canary Islands’ wines
The winners of the Official Agrocanarias 2026 Wine Competition have been announced. The Instituto Canario de Calidad Agroalimentaria (ICCA) has announced the jury’s decision of an edition that once again confirms the extraordinary moment the wine sector of the Canary Islands is going through and the high level reached by the Canary Islands wineries.
Held on 13 and 14 May at the headquarters of the Consejo Regulador de la Denominación de Origen Vinos de El Hierro and on 19 May at the Casa del Vino in Tenerife, the event brought together a committee of experts in charge of evaluating the samples from the different wine-producing areas of the Canary Islands.
The final balance leaves a total of 72 awards, distributed in 33 Gold Medals, 33 Grand Gold Medals and 6 Special Distinctions, figures that reflect the quality and competitiveness of the wines presented.

Whites, reds, sweet, sparkling and singular wines
The Agrocanarias 2026 awards once again demonstrated the enormous diversity of Canarian viticulture.
The medals were distributed among young white wines, red wines of different vintages, rosés, semi-dry, semi-sweet, sweet, sweet malvasías, tea wines and sparkling wines, demonstrating the wealth of styles offered today by the wineries of the Archipelago.
The categories of still white and still red wines were particularly important, with a large number of awards, although singular wines such as tea wines, sparkling wines made on the islands and naturally sweet wines also stood out.
An event that continues to boost the prestige of Canarian wine
Year after year, Agrocanarias consolidates itself as the main reference for measuring the quality of the wines produced in the archipelago. The competition not only recognises the work carried out by wineries and winegrowers, but also contributes to projecting the image of Canary Island wines among professionals, distributors and consumers.
The 2026 edition once again demonstrates the excellent health of the sector, the wineries’ capacity for innovation and the uniqueness of wines that find in the volcanic origin, the indigenous varieties and the diversity of microclimates some of their main signs of identity.
