The 8th edition of “Embajadores de Vinos Canarios” will be held from 1 to 5 June 2026, a training programme that is once again consolidating its position as one of the most important initiatives for the promotion and dissemination of the wines of the archipelago. Organised with the support of institutions and regulatory councils of the Canary Islands, the meeting will bring together professionals from the sector, sommeliers, communicators, wine lovers and gastronomic specialists in an intense week of experiences, training and discovery.
The proposal combines theory, specialised tastings, visits to wineries and gastronomic activities, offering a complete vision of the enormous wealth of the Canary Islands’ wine industry. Over the course of five days, participants will visit different designations of origin and learn first-hand about the work carried out on each island, from the unique heroic viticulture to the winemaking techniques that have made Canary Island wines an international benchmark.
A tour of the islands through wine
The programme will begin on Monday 1 June with an official welcome and institutional presentation in the GMR hall. From there, participants will begin a tour of the regulatory councils of the archipelago with classes and tastings focused on different designations of origin, as well as gastronomic experiences linked to local produce.
Highlights include wine tastings of wines from La Palma, Lanzarote, Abona, Tacoronte-Acentejo, Valle de Güímar, Valle de La Orotava and El Hierro, allowing visitors to get to know the unique characteristics of each territory and its native varieties. The programme also includes food and wine pairings, oil, gofio, cheese, salt and honey tastings, reinforcing the connection between wine and the Canary Islands’ gastronomic identity.
Specialised training and winery experiences
Beyond the technical sessions, “Embajadores de Vinos Canarios” is committed to an immersive experience. Attendees will visit emblematic wineries and vineyards, where they will be able to learn about the production process directly from the winemakers and oenologists.
One of the most eagerly awaited moments will be the visit to wineries in Tacoronte-Acentejo and La Gomera, as well as the activities programmed in areas linked to the volcanic landscape and traditional viticulture. These experiences will provide an insight into the enormous effort involved in cultivating vines in areas marked by the extreme orography and volcanic nature of the islands.
International promotion of Canarian wine
The main objective of this initiative is to train true ambassadors capable of communicating and projecting the quality of Canarian wines both inside and outside the archipelago. The combination of technical training, sensory experiences and direct contact with producers makes this programme a unique promotional platform for the sector.
The closing ceremony will take place on Friday 5 June with the final exam, the presentation of diplomas and the official closing of the conference, putting the finishing touch to a week dedicated to celebrating wine culture in the Canary Islands.
With each edition, “Ambassadors of Canary Island Wines” continues to strengthen the image of the islands as a benchmark wine-producing region, promoting knowledge of unique wines born among volcanoes, tradition and the Atlantic landscape.
