The winery presents ‘SingleCaskAlthos®’, a premium distillate made from a single cask and produced in a limited edition for the Canary Islands.
Bodegas Vega de Yuco expands its wine universe with the launch of ‘SingleCaskAlthos®’, a new premium distillate born as a tribute to the history, the volcanic landscape and the winemaking tradition of Lanzarote. The proposal, conceived as an exclusive collector’s edition, is a commitment to recover the historical legacy of the distillates linked to wine that marked the economic development of the island since the 18th century.
The new product has been made using traditional methods and comes entirely from a single barrel collection carefully selected by the winery. This singularity makes each bottle a unique and unrepeatable piece. The first edition will be limited to only 300 numbered bottles, with no provision for replenishment, thus reinforcing its exclusive character within the gourmet and premium drinks segment.
With ‘SingleCaskAlthos®’, Vega de Yuco seeks to convey the essence of Lanzarote to the consumer through an elaboration marked by the personality of the volcanic territory and the historical identity of the island. The distillate stands out for its aromatic complexity, balance and depth, with the presence of toasted and spicy notes and hints of noble wood derived from its ageing in French oak. In addition, delicate nuances of vanilla, dried fruits, light caramel and subtle balsamic notes add elegance and persistence on the palate.
The creation also connects with a little-known part of Lanzarote’s wine-making history. After the volcanic eruptions of Timanfaya between 1730 and 1736, Lanzarote developed an important activity linked to the production and commercialisation of spirits and distillates made from wine. Especially in Arrecife, where the well-known Barrio de La Destila arose, whose name still preserves the memory of that industrial and commercial activity linked to the sector.
The growth of vine cultivation in La Geria and the boom in maritime trade led to the emergence of numerous traditional wineries and favoured the development of artisanal winemaking for both local consumption and export. A historical legacy that now inspires this new Vega de Yuco proposal.
The distillate will be marketed in 500 millilitre format and comes in a telescopic case with a contemporary design made from sustainable and fully recyclable materials. The winery thus reinforces its commitment to combining exclusivity, design and environmental commitment in a product designed especially for gourmet shops, wine shops, premium restaurants and corporate gifts.
The marketing of ‘SingleCaskAlthos®’ will be limited exclusively to the Canary Islands market, reinforcing its local and differentiating character.
One of the most unique aspects of the launch is also its visual identity. The graphic image of the product was selected through an international design competition promoted by the winery itself, in which nearly a hundred proposals from different European and American countries took part. The label refers to Althos, a mythological figure linked to the aboriginal culture of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, associated with the supreme god of these islands.
With nearly three decades of experience, Bodegas Vega de Yuco continues to consolidate its commitment to innovation and the enhancement of Lanzarote’s volcanic landscape, developing products that combine tradition, identity and contemporary projection within the Canarian wine sector.
