DOP Abona wines stand out in Agrocanarias 2026 with 20 awards and one of the Best Wines of the Canary Islands.

The Abona Protected Designation of Origin was one of the main protagonists of the Agrocanarias 2026 Official Wine Competition. The wines produced in this wine-growing region in the south of Tenerife won a total of 20 awards, consolidating the appellation as one of the most recognised in the competition and confirming the excellent moment its wineries are experiencing.

The final balance for DOP Abona includes 10 Great Gold Medals, 9 Gold Medals and a Special Distinction, corresponding to one of the two awards granted to the Best Wine of the Canary Islands 2026.

Flor de Chasna Blanco Naturalmente Dulce, one of the best wines of the Canary Islands.

The main recognition for the appellation came from Flor de Chasna Blanco Naturalmente Dulce, made by the Sociedad Cooperativa Cumbres de Abona, which was distinguished as Best Canary Island Wine 2026 in an ex aequo decision adopted by the competition’s jury.

This award places the winery among the most outstanding references on the regional wine scene and represents an important recognition of the work carried out by one of the appellation’s historic wineries.

A large number of the awards obtained by the Abona PDO corresponded to wines made by the Sociedad Cooperativa Cumbres de Abona, Jottocar and Pagos de Reverón, wineries that were once again among the most awarded in the competition.

Cumbres de Abona obtained awards for the brands Flor de Chasna, Mi Isla and Cumbres de Abona, including the award for the Best Wine of the Canary Islands.

Jottocar added important distinctions with the references Mencey Chasna and Los Tableros, while Pagos de Reverón won awards for dry wines as well as for sweet and fruity wines.

A consolidated appellation among the Canarian wine references

The results obtained in Agrocanarias 2026 once again highlight the quality and diversity of the wines produced in the Abona PDO. Dry whites, aged wines, reds, rosés, fruity and sweet wines were recognised in a competition that brings together the best wines from the archipelago every year.

Winning one of the highest awards in the competition and the large presence on the list of honours reinforces the appellation’s position as one of the benchmarks of Canarian viticulture and demonstrates the work that wineries and winegrowers have been doing to maintain the identity and prestige of the wines from the south of Tenerife.
